Tuition

 

As well as selling instruments, we have an excellent drum tuition service ran by three of the best drum tutors in the area. Drum tuition is available from £25 per hour and can be arranged by calling us on 0191 2210301.  Some more details about our tutors is below:

 

Dave Lourie

Born 1967, Dave began playing at 13, and progressed through School of Music Newcastle jazz course '84-'86. He went on to become the resident music writer @ Masons Theatre Co. 86/87 and followed this up with work in the U.S., Carribean and South America during '87-'88. Dave's experience also includes extensive tours throughout the Middle East including the renowned Red Sea Festival.

Dave has been working freelance in England and Europe since 89. Recording, touring, T.V. and Radio. Featured at Edinburgh, Kendal, Newcastle and Bracknell Jazz festivals. Principle Tutor at the Newcastle Drum Centre the North East's largest private teaching practice.
Also employed as a Drum and Percussion Tutor for Northumberland schools.
Performed in clinic for Yamaha and Zildjian along side Keith Carlock.

Craig Blundell

Dave is also endorsed as an artist by Yamaha and Zildjian.

Drum Tuition
Steve offers drum set tuition in all styles of music ranging from: Pop, Rock, Latin/Afro Cuban, Jazz and many more. Whether you are a complete novice or have been playing for some time, Steve will tailor a course of instruction and set out a suitable practise regimen to suit your level and needs.

Trinity Guildhall certification
For those who wish to attain graded examinations, I have 13 years experience of (and an extremely good pass rate!) submitting drumming students to the Trinity Guildhall drum set examinations which are recognised and highly regarded world wide.

Playing and Teaching Experience
As a Drum Teacher I have 13 years experience both privately and working for Local Authorities and Schools. I currently teach drum kit & percussion at The Royal Grammar School Newcastle, Central Newcastle High School, Newcastle Preparatory School and also work for North Tyneside Council Music Service. Previously I spent 12 years working for Northumberland Music Service.
As a Player I have 28 years professional playing experience to date (and hopefully many more to come!) This has found me in a wide variety of playing situations covering many styles & genres – ranging from local original bands to cruise ships, theatre, TV, radio broadcasts, function bands, big bands, brass bands, clubs, holiday camps and more.

Graeme Hare

Graeme Hare is a graduate of Newcastle Music College, where he attained an honours degree in jazz and popular music, Bmus (hons).

Established performer...

He has established himself as a leading performer, drumming and percussion teacher and composer in the north east of England. Graeme has appeared with Laughing Jacks, The Crosby Brothers, Martin Fletcher in M-FUS, Archie Brown, Little Mo, Deacon Jones and the Sinners, Wanted, The Gerry Richardson Trio, Gerry Richardson's Big Idea, Mamma Mischief, The Richard Kain Band, The Watts 'n' Whiffin Big Band, Morgan Le Fay and Chameleon. He has also recently worked with the Paul James band, Eric and the Vikings, The Interventionists and Pop Idol star Aaron Bayley.
