Our last great Drum Clinic featured not one but two great drummers, Chad Smith and Steve White.

As you probably know, Chad Smith is drummer with the mighty Red Hot Chili Peppers and Steve White is Paul Weller's drummer.

This was an event of monumental proportions. The room was packed, every seat was taken, there was standing room only, in fact not much of that was left, there were so many standing!

This was a truly excellent clinic. Steve White, who has been in clinic for us before, was totally excellent. Chad was simply superb. He had the audience in the palm of his hand, including the 84 year old Grandma on the front row, from the moment he walked on. He did an excellent solo, did some Stadium Arcadium tracks, and then all hell broke loose as Steve and Chad showed just how brilliant they are at performing together. They were simply awesome. Drum clinics just don't get better than this!

In demand drummer Keith Carlock took time out of his busy schedule to demonstrate his drumming skills in front of an avid Newcastle Drum Centre supported by our very own tutor Dave Lourie who opened up the night's performance with a solo and track from his trio, Blue Star.

Keith Carlock, who has played with the likes of Sting, Steely Dan and Wayne Krantz, opened with an improvised solo wowing the audience with great playing, combining brilliant dynamics, control and groove through superb technique. Keith went on to explain techniques and tips beneficial in all styles of drumming. Keith's performance also included play along tracks from his latest studio work with his band Rudder and more recently a project with the very talented Australian bass player Tal Wilkenfeld, who's CD is currently on loop in the shop.

A fantastic night was had by all with a few audience members walking away with goodies from the free prize draw courtesy of Yamaha UK.
