As the world's drumhead specialist, Remo has developed an incredibly
wide variety of drumheads. Through the development of different drumhead
designs, types and weights Remo heads allow you to refine and improve drumhead
performance. Remo heads can fit all other makes of drum and can be used instead
of the original
head maker.
In general, drumhead performance can be put in to three main categories:
- Sound - tone colour, pitch, sustain
- Feel - response, sensitivity
- Presence - durability, tuning range, appearance
Each type, style and variety of head has it's own sound, feel and presence.
The
coating of the head generally affects each gauge in the following ways:
- Transparent - brightest
- Smooth White - bright with shortened sustain
- Coated - darker, shorter sustain
- Damper Rings - crisper sounds
- Fibreskyn - dark toned durable head
Bass drum heads are better for surdos as they have sturdier, bigger collars
which are easier to keep under the rim of your surdo. This stops your surdo
from de-tuning as easily and as a result can achieve a much better drum sound.
Bass drum heads
are available from 18" upwards.
To choose the right head can be difficult, often samba players choose
their heads for durability which all remo heads live up to. To find out more
about what would be the right heads for your drums contact us and we will
be happy to give
advise.
We have at least 1000 heads in at all times so choosing your head couldn't
be
easier. To find out the prices of each type of head click the Full Listing button
