At Newcastle Drum Centre we offer a full in store drum kit tuition service, utilising the latest electronic equipment in two purpose built booths.

Our professional tutors offer a comprehensive teaching package suitable for absolute beginners through to accomplished players.

The tuition is tailored to suit the individual requirements of each pupil and subjects covered include the following:

• Guildhall School of Music and Drama examinations for drum kit and snare drum grades 1 to 8
• Stick control and rudiments
• Hand and foot independence
• Sight-reading
• Playing with a rhythm section / band
• Working with click tracks and sequencers

To complement the tuition service, we host regular clinics, workshops and masterclasses presented by well known players and tutors from within the drum and percussion community. These events cover all aspects of the drum kit including:

When BBC Radio Newcastle wanted twelve drummers drumming, for the Paul and Ian show, naturally they turned to Newcastle Drum Centre. Ian Robinson was tasked with finding all the elements of the "Twelve Days Of Christmas" song.

Not only did Newcastle Drum Centre supply the drums, but we supplied the drummers as well! Led by tutor Graeme Hare, the band included ten of Graeme's pupils who all take lessons at the Drum Centre. The hastily assembled band all played African Djembe drums and sounded as though they had been practicing for weeks.

BBC Radio Newcastle's Ian Robinson said "They were great and it made for good radio, thanks very much".
