HI-HO!! It's back on the road we go!!

2016 - The start of festival season.

Hello you lovely lot. I hope you are all fine & dandy and have enjoyed the 23 minutes of sunshine we've had lately!! I just thought I'd tell you about the 1st outings i've had this year with the mighty Venom.

As we have been busy holed up in the studio working away on our next album..It seems like an eternity since we were last out on the road, December - Black Christmas Festival, Sweden.. So we were chomping at the bit to get out & play again!!

Our 1st show of 2016 was Maryland Death Fest in Baltimore MD USA as Festival headliners on Sunday 29th May. This is a great festival, as I know from the previous headline slot we did in 2013.

My kit for this show was a fantastic sounding Pearl Reference kit.. 2 x 24" bass drums, 13",14" toms 16",18" floor toms with a 14"x6.5" snare drum all surrounded by the greatest cymbals known to man...Paiste -a nice selection of 2002's, signatures & Rudes.

The gig was a frenzied onslaught of power & passion... From the opening words of the intro  "LADIES & GENTLEMEN... FROM THE VERY DEPTHS OF HELL...VENOM" The 15,000 or so crowd were ours. Blazing through a set highlighting Venoms 4 decades of Black Metal Madness with the likes of old school classics 'Witching Hour', 'Bloodlust'  & 'Warhead' along side new crowd favourite anthems 'Long Haired Punks', 'Hammerhead' & 'Death To Rock N Roll' whipping the kids into a circle pit to be proud of! The show seemed to be over in a flash... A good time had by all!

It was great to catch up for a beer or two with old friends & members of Geordie metallers Satan.. And my old mucker from Chesterfield, the speed machine Nick Barker who was on drums for U.S thrashers Nuclear Assault

           Me & Nick Barker

After a lengthy flight back from Baltimore to Heathrow there was just enough time to try a nice Guinness at the bar before our Newcastle flight. As we were sat there relaxing & getting funny looks from fellow travellers, a shady character emerged from the departure lounge. At first glance we thought, Ahh.. not you're typical autograph hunter.

With those gold teeth & the swanky Luis Vuitton flight bag this man about town could only be our very own Drumshop director Andy Anderson!

 With the Boss Man.

Well its home for a couple of Days before I'm off again to do the Primivera Festival in Barcelona, Spain. To be continued...
